Marsala, the fortified specialty of Sicily, is surely due a comeback. Yes it is sweet (dolce), but many of the world's greatest wines are sweet too. Aged five years this is morphing from orange to tawny in colour. It has an compelling nose of apricot jam, honey, almond/pistachio maturity, and a touch of earthy/burlap oxidation. It is very smooth, creamy and sweet, but maintains some sense of delicacy and tenderness, despite the warmth stirred up by18% alcohol. The length is excellent. Chill light as a late night meditation.
