The secluded Strandveld is in Elim, at the southernmost tip of South Africa. It's here that the unique characteristics of the Western Cape are clearly shown: cooling breezes from the Cape Doctor winds, morning fog, sandy mineral-rich soil, and high elevation. The resulting Syrah is Old World in character, with notes of blueberry, white pepper, cured meat, dry herbs, and toasted oak.[Winemag.co.za did not include a tasting note.] Score - 95.
