A wildly herbal and near Amaro red fruited malbec that speaks to place as much as anything else in this wine. The McNally Vineyard makes for red fruit of a swarthy but oh so natural savour, life raspberries in syrup that has been made aromatic by star anise, cassia and clove ... This vineyard sheds more citrus and bitters in the red fruit it grows, whether pinot noir or malbec and so the VA number acts higher as a result. Drink 2020-2023. Score - 89.
