From limestone/clay soils in the ancient Tautavel region near the Spanish/Catalonia border, this has a very lifted, very floral nose of lilac/peony with mulberry fruit, pepper and that certain hot rocks scent of carignan (a variety in this blend). It is medium-full bodied, smooth but hot and mineral edged with firm tannin - again the carignan contribution. Tannins are crusty, the finish is stern, the length is very good to excellent.
