Benegas Estate Single Vineyard Malbec 2018
- 750 ml bottle
Product details
With the arrival of the railways in the late 19th century, Benegas was one of the first wineries to develop Mendoza as a premium wine region. From vines planted nearly 90 years ago at 1,450m in the Uco Valley, the grapes undergo a pre-fermentation maceration and the wine is aged for 12 months in new French oak barrels. Alistair Cooper, MW: Cassis, mulberry and rosehip; lovely delicate florality. Defined chalky tannins that need to resolve a little but add superb structure. Good dark fruit and a peppery snap on the balanced, zesty and fresh finish. Amanda Barnes: A mineral, more savoury nose with wild mountain herbs and flowers on the palate. A fresh, balanced and ageworthy Malbec that displays lots of energy and tension. Dirceu Vianna Junior, MW: Pure and clear with an amazing bouquet of ripe forest fruits, wet earth and a delicate herbal note that is appealing. Beautifully harmonious with excellent concentration of fruit and long, pleasant finish. Delicious, with lovely tension. Drinking window: 2021-2031. Part of Premium Argentinian Malbec: Panel Tasting Results. Score - 95. (Panel, decanter.com, Sept. 8, 2021)
